Knighthood, Beyond an Award
As posted with permission by Medryn
The subject of knighthood is one that is dear to my heart, and I have spent a great deal of time thinking about its value, what it means, and how to improve it. This article shares the thoughts I have had and the conclusions I have reached and hopefully will prompt readers to not only consider what exactly knighthood represents, but to take active steps to elevate knighthood beyond an award.

Steamgard Part II: Blood and Brass
Origionally posted on E-sam, reposted with permission by Asmund
Now we shall begin our exploration of the classes of Steamgard. As has been said, you won't be getting new classes, abilities or powers. What you will be getting is a new light shed on old favorites. We will examine class concepts and abilities in the context of Steamgard and also take a look at two very specific examples (called "Archetypes") of each class taken in a new or extreme direction.

Interview with Megiddo
May 16 2012 06:23 PM | Mynok in Amtgard News
I was asked at Endreign what it takes to be a good monarch and really did not have a good response to the question. I think, for most people, we just kind of wing it, trust your gut, and hope that we don't screw up too badly.
I like this article by Michael Hammer of God. I have never met Megiddo, but there is some sound advice contained within.

A Message to the Populace from Queen Ivey
Mar 14 2012 01:56 PM | Mynok in Kingdom News
To the populace,
Greetings! First off, we have been facing some difficult times of late in our kingdom. The monarchy has had some very difficult decisions to make in the last two months. I was going to wait and add this address after Mid-reign but I think we all need something positive to focus on. I would like to think that these experiences rather than being negative have provided us as a kingdom as a whole the opportunity to learn and to grow. I believe that despite these difficult situations, we as a kingdom are still thriving and that is thanks to all of you as our populace and the support you have shown us as your monarchy.
Congrats are to be given to Wilhelm as our weapon master and Ulrich as our Dragon master. What an amazing event that was! 50 fighters entered into the fighting tourney, the event raised 500 dollars, and we had a record setting 96 people attend! The arts and science classes were a huge success. I was so proud to be your queen and to get to recognize several people for their hard work as we broke with tradition and held court at this event.
I am pleased to announce that we as the BOD have gotten an over sight corrected and we now have a kingdom bank account. I am also pleased to announce that Wrenn and Catherine performed an audit at the event and everything was accounted for and the records were 100% accurate. I would like to thank Wrenn for his time on this and a huge thank you to Catherine for her service as our PM and the excellent job she has done as such.
We have a very fun event coming up that I hope you will all attend. Mid-reign is scheduled for March 23rd-25th at the torch club in Alton IL, and there are lots of fun things scheduled for this event; such as jugging, battle games, a monster garbing hour (to take home to your parks), and an Arts and crafts time (provided by Rourka). There will also be an auction for a belt made and generously donated by Ulrich. Sir Rammork has an excellent feast menu lined up for us and if weather permits we will be holding a fire light court with a bardic after wards. And for you stick jocks, a lit ditch field with no quiet hour! That is just a small bit of all the fun that will be hard; again, we can't wait to see every one there.
I again want to thank everyone who has worked so hard this reign and has shown us so much support. I am hearing so many good things from our park leaders. I wish to thank each of you for your time and your efforts. We really have an amazing kingdom.
Yours in service,
Queen Ivey

The Rising Winds
Mar 14 2012 01:54 PM | Mynok in Amtgard News
Before we were Tal Dagore, we were Rising Winds.
They started as the shires of Lyon’s Tomb and Windmoor Crossing. Slowly swelling their numbers they were made into the Barony of Rising Winds under the Emerald Hills banner. As time progress they became the Duchy of Rising Winds and then in 2002 they made Kingdom.
They were there when Midgard and Tal Dagore tried for kingdom. Midgard has since been demolished due to diminished numbers among the founding parks.
Currently Rising Winds has twenty-two parks spread over the mid west and one in Zagreb, Croatia. As Tal Dagore continues to “grow-up,” we will continue to look at the precedence that our parent kingdom has put forth

Tal Dagore at a Glance: Falcon Tor
Mar 14 2012 12:22 PM | Mynok in Kingdom News
Tal Dagore at a Glance: Falcon Tor
Falcon Tor was set up in 2007 by Sir Lorell and Shadus.
They believed that that area needed Amtgard again and set-up Falcon Tor. As of now they play in Ashland Park. They host several events every year, including Operation Bird’s Nest. Some of the people that you may know from Falcon Tor are Sir Rammork, Sir Lorell, Baronet Beldin, Countess Catherine, Countess Angiel, and Sir Wyldecatt.
Falcon Tor also has an affinity for kingdom office, almost every reign there has been someone from Falcon Tor amongst them• Info courtesy of AmtWiki

Knoblander XII
Feb 05 2012 11:54 PM | Mynok in Kingdom News
Knoblander XII
May 11th-13th at Cuivre River State Park
Players have one set of lives, and magic users have 1 spell list to use to make it through the weekends game. It is most comparable to a large scale paintball scenario event where multiple teams compete in assigned missions for points as a comprehensive story line unfolds around the game. The team with the most points at the end of the event is given the title of Champions and a nice trophy. K10 will be ran using a multi-team format rather than the two army format this year.
Here is a video made by Wisp as a Walkthrough

Grim Yuletide
Feb 05 2012 04:56 AM | Mynok in Kingdom News
Western Gate:
For many a year Western Gate has hosted Grim Yuletide and this year it was the evil Santa (Sir Wisp) that won again, although the Nutcracker (Defender Keonee) and Father Time (Sir Konrad) tried to thwart him.
For those that were unable to attend, it will also be remembered for a very special Sugar Plum Fairy (Lord Poobah) as well as all the others that looked the part. There was great contention as The Father Time horde went into epic battle, erecting force walls and keeping the evil Santa party at bay. Father Time was able to capture the translation for the most powerful of all shields and then he had the shield but for a moment before the Evil Santa horde descended upon him.
The Ice Queen (Saiganilia) and the Spirit of Christmas (Calypso) went head to head as the Christmas Elves (Sir Rammork and Lord Bones) tried to save the weaponless Spirit.
But all ended in vain when the Spirit was severed and her last stolen life was taken, we will always remember how special she made us feel. After the epic battle, the hordes were feed at the great feast, prepared Baroness Fey Anya, of chili, potato-leek soup, homemade cornbread, pasta salad, and dessert cakes. It was delicious and filling as usual.
The Royal Court graced us with their presence and stopped the un-titled from sitting at the great tables during feast and court.Congratulations to Lord Bones on his Weaponmaster win and Baroness Fey Anya on Dragonmaster. Thank you Western Gate and all the people that came to play, the event was very successful and you helped to make it happen.
